I came across this whipped coffee on Tiktok (yes, I have been sucked in) and it looked SO easy to make so I figured I'd give it a whirl and share it with you! Well fast forward and...I'm addicted! Tiktok's whipped coffee is basically a strong, frothy, coffee drink that you can make at easily home!

I'm not sure who exactly started this Tiktok coffee trend but I have seen it so many times so I thought I would put it to the test. It only takes 3 ingredients (one being water) and thankfully I had everything in my pantry. I will warn you though, it takes almost 10 whole minutes of beating the mixture with a hand mixer so if you're going to do this with a whisk, be ready for an arm workout!
How to make TikTok's Whipped Coffee:
Step 1. Get a small bowl and mix together the instant coffee, sugar, and water. (See full recipe below for measurements.)

Step 2. Whip like a mad-man! Like I mentioned above, you CAN do this by hand but you will be whisking for a long time. Your best option is to use a hand mixer with a whisk attachment. I actually don't have a whisk attachment on mine so I just put one beater in my hand mixer and use that.
Here's are the stages that the mixture will go through. When it gets very thick and frothy, it's done! You'll know when it sticks to the mixer and doesn't drip off at all.

From start to finish, the whipping process takes about 7 minutes depending on the speed of your mixer.

Tips for whipping the coffee mixture:
- Use a small bowl so the beater reaches deeper into the mixture.
- Use either a whisk attachment for a hand mixer or just 1 beater.
- Be patient! It takes a little time but it's worth it!
- Whip up the mixture when you're ready to enjoy the drink. This cannot be made ahead of time. You are basically whipping air into the mixture and it will start to deflate after a few minutes.
Step 3. Once the coffee mixture is nice and thick, add ice to your glass, pour in your milk, then top with the whipped coffee. Stir together and enjoy!

Variations on Tiktok's whipped coffee:
- This recipe makes a very strong coffee drink. If you would like a lighter drink, split this between 2 or 3 cups of milk and share with a friend!
- Although there is sugar in this whipped coffee, it's not super sweet because of the amount of strong coffee. If you enjoy a very sweet coffee drink, you can add in a little bit of your favorite sweetened coffee creamer to your milk or 1 packet of stevia or splenda.
- Try adding a little sprinkle of cinnamon on top to garnish! (My favorite!)
- Drizzle your glass with a little chocolate syrup before adding in the ice and milk.
- Make with almond milk for a diary-free version.
- Live on the wild side and add a shot of bailey's or kahlua!

you can also make with double cream (whipping cream) and crush some oreas into it and whisk and add that to milk or whipping cream and hot chocolate or nesquick powder

Coco and Ash says
Hi aria! Are you sure you used instant coffee and regular white sugar. Any variations can throw off the consistency. Best of luck!

Call me old fashioned, but I can’t stand having to scroll through like 10 screens of fluff just to get to the actual recipe.
Coco and Ash says
Well, since recipe are FREE on my site as opposed to the "old fashioned" way of BUYING a cookbook. I like to give as much information about the recipe as possible for my readers.
Marta says
You could also learn to develop recipes yourself, Angela. Instead of complaining about someone's FREE recipe that they've taken the time to develop, write, and shoot, how about you thank them and rate them on the recipe. Not on your old-fashioned feelings?

Yummy! I made this yesterday and it turned out amazing!
Tammy says
Actually the this originated in jail because people go through sugar DTS when they're in jail and they often through their store calls can get instant coffee not too easy however to get sugar so they do the instant coffee and they crush hard candies the best flavor you will ever taste is instant coffee of course the pinch of water and crushed butterscotch candies and you do it the same way you whip it until it has the same consistency as whip cream. in other words if you turn the bowl upside down it doesn't move and you can take and put ice cubes in a glass and take two tablespoons of the cream and putting glass and slowly pour a Coca-Cola over it and it is amazing
Caitlin says
Hey! Great recipe! I’m out of white sugar so is it possible to substitute it with light brown sugar? Thanks!
Caitlin says
Hey is it possible to sub the white sugar with light brown sugar? Thanks!
Coco and Ash says
I have not tried it with brown sugar, but it sounds like it would be delicious. Let me know how it goes!
Caitlin says
Got it! Thanks!
Jill Hansen says
Will this work with instant espresso powder?
What brand of instant coffee did you use?
Coco and Ash says
I think it would. I just used the regular instant folgers 🙂

I've been making this off and on for as many years as I can remember. I Personally find it quicker to hand whisk. I can whip up a batch in about 2-3 minutes. tried with mixer and for me it took longer. This is just my personal experience. Yours may differ from mine. I bet its the dry sweltering Arizona heat that makes it work faster for me. 😉
