How to shred chicken the FAST way!
So this really isn’t a “recipe” but it’s such a time saver that I thought I’d share it with you. This is so easy that I promise you will never shred chicken with a fork (while making those horrible fork/plate scraping sounds) again!
The only things you need are your chicken pieces and a stand mixer. I have this KitchenAid one and I use it ALLLLL the time! When I got it (as a wedding gift 5 years ago) I thought it would be one of those appliances that just takes up space and never gets used. Well I am shocked at how often I use it!
To shred your chicken all you need to do is:
- Add your warm chicken to the stand mixer . It doesn’t have to be hot but definitely not cold or it’s too hard on the mixer. I usually do about 5 or 6 boneless chicken breasts at a time.
- Put the cover/shield thing on the mixer so you don’t get splattered with chicken pieces.
- Lock the top down on your mixer or it will bounce like crazy scaring your children. (not that I’ve done this) 🙂
- Using the paddle attachment, turn your mixer on for about 25 seconds.
- THAT’S IT!
I told you it was easy! I usually just sauté or bake some chicken breasts or use a rotisserie chicken from the store and shred a bunch and then freeze it for things like chicken nachos or other easy weeknight meals!
Hope this little tip saves you some time!
