Every once in a while my husband and I wait until the kids are in bed to enjoy a nice quiet(er) dinner. Even on those nights I like to make quick meals and actually enjoy my night instead of wasting precious time in the kitchen. Thanks to Dorot herbs, this Easy Shrimp Scampi is one of those meals that looks and taste like you spend hours in the kitchen when in reality, it’s a “dump n go” dish! 🙂
Dorot does all of the prep work for you when it comes to herbs! Dorot herbs are pre-chopped and frozen so you can take out only what you need and keep the rest for later. What a time saver!! I don’t know about you but I hate buying a bunch of herbs to chop a tiny bit and then throw the rest away. These Dorot herbs are not only a time saver but a money saver too! You can find them in the freezer section of Whole Foods or Trader Joes.
(Funny story about this pic…I literally had just left the dentist office and my mouth was totally numb. Thus the weird half smile.) Thankfully I found the Dorot quickly and was on my way! 🙂

I made this super easy shrimp scampi using Dorot herbs as my flavor boosters. I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh they are and how much flavor they pack in those tiny cubes! And thanks to Dorot, this is basically just a “dump and go” recipe!
Here’s what you need to make the Easy Shrimp Scampi:
- Raw Shrimp (24 ounces) peeled and deveined
- 1/2 stick of butter melted (1/4 cup)
- Juice from half a lemon
- 6 DOROT garlic cubes (that equals 6 garlic cloves!)
- 3 DOROT basil cubes (that equals 3 tsp chopped basil!)
- 1/4 cup white wine
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 lb box of linguini or pasta of your choice
Here’s how you make it:
First preheat your oven to 425 and set a pot of water to boil for your pasta.
Then in a small casserole dish, add your butter and melt it in the microwave. That takes about one minute. Then squeeze your lemon juice into the same dish.
Now here comes the easy part…whoo hooo! Instead of separating, peeling, chopping, and having your hands smell like garlic, just pop in 6 cubes of your garlic Dorot! I can’t tell you how easy this was!!
After you’ve dropped in your garlic, add 3 cubes of your basil Dorot.

Pour in your white wine.
Now take your raw shrimp and toss them together with the salt and pepper and then add them to the main dish with all of the other ingredients. The cool thing about the Dorot is that the warm butter will have melted them and when you toss your shrimp in, you can easily mix everything together to coat the shrimp!

Pop that in your oven for 15 minutes. And you can also throw in your pasta and cook according to the package directions. Here’s how it’ll look when it comes out.
I like to serve mine over the pasta, spooning some of the sauce over it and with some french bread for dipping. The sauce is amazing!!!

September 18, 2016 at 6:10 amThose chopped frozen herbs sound super handy! I do something similar at home when I have a surplus of summer herbs, saving them for the winter.

September 29, 2016 at 8:31 amMy goodness, this looks so good! I love shrimp but have not had it in a while. We are going on vacation next week (to the coast) so hopefully I can order some there. If not, I will have to try your recipe for shrimp scampi (which I have never made but your recipe looks easy).
