This shrimp marinade packs a huge punch of flavor and is made with ingredients that you can probably already find in your house! They have the perfect amount of tang and just a hint of spice! You can grill these shrimp (my favorite) or you can bake them, or sauté them in a skillet.

Shrimp is something that I actually tend to make quite a bit. They cook so quickly, it's a light meal, and if they're frozen, they only take a few minutes to thaw out. I actually cooked these on my [easyazon_link identifier="B00LU2HXRK" locale="US" tag="cocandash-20"]George Foreman[/easyazon_link] grill. So much easier than actually getting the big grill out!

The Best Shrimp Marinade
Ingredients
- 1 lb raw shrimp (peeled)
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- 3 large garlic cloves (minced finely)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
- 2 teaspoon hot sauce (or more if you like more spice)
- 3 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a bowl with the shrimp and stir to combine.
- Refrigerate no longer than 30 minutes or the shrimp can get tough.
- If you're planning to use wooden skewers, soak them in water while the shrimp marinade so they won't burn on the grill
- Grill for about 2 minutes on each side.
- If you're baking them, heat your oven to 400 and bake for about 8-10 minutes.
- Enjoy!

When a recipe says "the best..." You may have an eye roll invoked as you read through it.. However.... This is truly THE BEST shrimp marinade. Last summer I looked for a shrimp marinade just for guidance on measurements but I decided to follow the recipe abd we've never looked back. We made this marinade at least a dozen times and the kick off to summer 2019 was this recipe. The only thing we left out is the brown sugar because we didnt want the shimp to carmalize and we are watching our sugar and calorie intake. We did not miss it. You can also subsitute other herbs for parsley - cilantro, dill, thyme- and they are good, but we keep going back to parsley. Thank you Coco and Dash!!

Made this last night. Absolute winner! Had to bake in oven at the last minute due to thunderstorm but still perfect. Just the two of us devoured a pound of shrimp....sorry third person. Boo hoo no leftovers

Awesome Susan!! So glad you liked it! 😀

Could I use regular paprika if I don't have smoked paprika?
Coco and Ash says
Sure! The smoked paprika does give it a nice bit of a smokier flavor but you can definitely use regular paprika if you don't have the smoked 🙂

Good work on this marinade! It came out super awesome tasting!! I double the marinade because I had 2lbs of shrimp. Also instead of grilling or using the oven I cooked them in a large shallow pan in all of the marinade, and then put them on top of some brown rice with some scoops of the juice and it was great! Deff saving this recipe and highly recommend anyone with doubts...
Coco and Ash says
That sounds delicious! Glad you enjoyed!

Thanks for the recipe Coco! My wife and I love shrimp. Been looking for a good recipe for grilling shrimp. Haven't tried yours yet, but will. Looks delicious! My question is , my wife is allergic to lemon. Is there something else I could substitute for it in your recipe or is that going to throw everything out on the taste of this recipe? Thanks!
Coco and Ash says
Thank you!! You can try sour orange juice and that will be great as well!

The marinade smells amazing! I have no choice but to marinate overnight in the fridge, so here's hoping! What would make it tough? Skewers basted with a combo of this and melted butter tomorrow, served with grilled asparagus, and a delicate bed of linguini.
Mmmm 😋

This is our "go to" marinade for shrimp. Have made it many times now. It's good regardless how you cook the shrimp (grill, pan fry, etc.). I wasn't a big shrimp fan until I tried this! Thank you for a marvelous recipe.
