The Best Places to Eat in Charleston, SC

My husband and I recently went to Charleston for the first time for both of us! With some suggestions from some local friends, we stuffed our faces and enjoyed every minute of it!

It was a quick trip but we tried to pack as much great food in as possible. Honestly, it was some of the best food I've had in a long time and I can't wait to go back!

Our first dinner was at Fleet Landing.

What a great start! It's waterfront dining and has such a casual vibe with great food. It was pretty packed when we walked in and reservations are recommended.

We started off sharing the "Fleet Landing Stuffed Hush Puppies". They are basically a little fried hushpuppy cup that's filled with lobster, shrimp, leeks, and corn smothered in a creole tomato sauce that I could have drank with a straw!

For my entree, I had the fresh catch (snapper) and ordered it blackened. I ordered the side of cheese grits and fries (I was having a major fry craving!). The fish was so moist and cooked perfectly. The blackening seasoning gave it a big punch of flavor but wasn't overly spicy (and I'm a total baby when it comes to spice).

I am actually not a huge grits lover but I wanted to try something different so I ordered the pimento cheese grits as one of my sides. They were creamy and unlike a lot of other grits I've tasted, these had lots of flavor from the pimento cheese and just enough salt.

Overall, our dinner at Fleet Landing was a win! The food was amazing and the vibe was great. I loved that it didn't feel "snooty" but the food was still what you'd expect from a top-notch restaurant. The seafood was fresh and everything was cooked to perfection!

Next up was a quick breakfast at "Callie's Hot Little Biscuit".

If you're looking for a quick breakfast thats still delicious and unique, this is your place! We visited the Charleston City Market location and it was the perfect treat to enjoy while we shopped.

They have a huge variety of biscuits both sweet and savory and you can grab coffee and sandwiches as well. You can either eat while you walk the market or stop at the tables outside and enjoy your biscuits while you relax. Where to eat in charleston, SC, south carolina, charleson, Where to eat, charleston south carolina, callies hot little biscuit

We ordered the special which was a strawberry shortcake made with the biscuits, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and sprinkled with raw sugar. We also ordered 3 little biscuits: cinnamon sugar (my favorite), cheese and chive, and black pepper bacon (my husbands favorite). Just take a look at that cinnamon butter dripping down that first biscuit!!

Finally, we had an unexpectedly amazing breakfast at TOAST.

We happened to just walk in to Toast while we were shopping and we were not disappointed! It has a quaint little down-home feel. It's nothing frilly or fancy but the food spoke for itself! It was honestly one of my favorite meals of the trip.

I ordered the "Eggs Meeting Street". It's a fried green tomato, topped with a crab cake (seriously!), a poached egg, and a low-country remoulade sauce. All served with the biggest biscuit I've ever seen (ask for some gravy on the side!!) and home fries.

I'd like to say that I didn't finish this because it's gigantic. But with a little bit of help from my husband, I ate the entire thing. And I don't regret one bite!

There are SO MANY great restaurants in Charleston! These were the restaurants that stood out to me on our trip and really made a great impression with great food!
