When I first heard of "dessert hummus" I was totally intrigued and thinking...what in the world is this dessert hummus that people are going crazy for?! My dad actually came over when I had this party tray out and between him and I, we ate almost the entire container. He kept asking me, "what is this stuff?!"
Well let me explain. The Boar's Head Dark Chocolate Hummus starts with the traditional steamed chickpeas. The chickpeas don't have much flavor on their own but they serve as a vehicle for all the other yummy stuff. Then cocoa powder, organic sugar, and vanilla extract get added and the result is a dip that is not only guilt-free but tastes like straight brownie batter!
The hummus is so creamy, has a perfectly rich dark chocolate taste, and really made this party tray to easy to pull together. Pro-tip: buy 2 packages so you could keep one in the fridge all to yourself! You'll thank me later!
Here's the really good part: Boar's Head makes it for you! The only thing you need to do is open up a package and pair it with your favorite treats. It's so quick and easy to put together a party tray of goodies with the dark chocolate hummus. I put together this entire party tray with all my favorite goodies in less than 5 minutes. (And it was pretty much devoured that quickly too!)
So since the dark chocolate hummus dip is pretty much guilt-free, I didn't feel too bad about adding some Boar's Head Bacon to dip into the chocolate hummus. If you've never had bacon and chocolate together...you haven't lived! There's something about that sweet and salty combination that's just out of this world! It was definitely my favorite dipper! My kids would probably choose the vanilla crackers as their favorite but it was all yummy! By the way, those are banana chips in the photo. They hold up much better than a raw banana and they were delicious in the dip as well.
You can add anything to your party tray that you think would taste great dipped in chocolate. Here's what I added. Vanilla cookies, pretzel rods, dried mango, banana chips, almonds, raspberries, and Boar's Head bacon. I pretty much just walked through the grocery store and looked for things that had different textures and shapes.
And, if you're anything like me, you like to have a little sweet snack after dinner. Well something that tastes like brownie batter yet is a lighter treat is pretty much perfection in my book! This has become my go-to snack! I just grab a few pretzels and the dark chocolate hummus and I'm happier than a pig in mud!
