Cinnamon Ornaments

Ingredients

  • 2 bottles Ground cinnamon (2.37 oz. each) (this comes out to about 1 and 1/4 cup)
  • 3/4 cup applesauce
  • parchment or wax paper
  • cookie cutters
  • a drinking straw
  • ribbon for hanging
  • assorted paints for decorating (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 200 degrees
  • Mix the cinnamon and applesauce in a bowl and combine together until a dough forms. (I like to squeeze it in my hand to make sure it comes together nicely)
  • Place the dough between 2 sheets or parchment or wax paper and roll until the dough is about 1/4 inch thick. 
  • Use your cookie cutters to cut out desired shape then lay the shapes on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. 
  • Use the straw to poke a hole in the top of each ornament. 
  • Bake at 200 degrees for 2.5 hours. 
  • Let cool then you can decorate (I actually like to use glitter glue!) then hang with ribbon. 

Notes

I think this is probably obvious but these ornaments are NOT for eating. I guess technically you could eat them...but they would taste disgusting and I don't recommend doing that.  :)
